what happened on the day of Ashtami ... the day ,the young girls are considered and honoured as goddesses of the house.
The incidents are reported by the narrators aunt ,Hari s mother ... lets see what she has to say about the day and the Lalitha s middle daughter.....from the short story GIRLS..by Mirnal Pande.
"On the day of ashtami when sasuma called all girls with a tray of crimson powder in her hands ,and another tray filled with halwas and puris...a mat has been spread for their sitting and all.at that time Lalithas middle daughter started make every one mad without obeying Marima or anyone...when she is called for pooja and offering,i always think how Lalitha suffer all this ..how can she tolerate her, she is brat ,never hears any ones order and never always have a bomerang type of replay that hit elders mouth shut.
a stubborn girl ,I dont what Lalitha do with her in this critical condition , when her grandmother called her she refused to come and playing train in courtyard, what will we do with these...types ,
she is not even thinking that one day she have to get married to one and go away...if she grow with this sort of behaviour...she never gonna survive there... poor Lalitha always get in trouble with this girl, when will Lalitha get peace of mind:" ......
